02.12.2019

I’m glad to inform you about our next Indian Anthropological cinema club, which will take place on July 23, 2014, 18.30, in D.P.Dharr hall, Indian Embassy (Vorontsovo pole 6-8).

The topic of the evening will be “Indian North-East: people, history, culture”. We will screen too amazing films, and we will discuss all matters after that.

Too state will be in the focus: Nagalend and Manipur. Both – beautiful lands, inhabited by various peoples, including many tribes. Both have rich handicrafts, arts, peculiar life styles and religions. Reflection on geography and history of North-East states of India will brings us to better understanding of the whole country.

My colleague, Dr. Anna Bychkova, Indologist, specialist in history and culture of Nagaland, will take part in the discussion, she will present the first film. I’ll be happy to share my impression on Manipur’s culture and ethnography, based on my recent fieldwork.
